Sometimes the best thing about a weekend away is that there is nothing you have to do. Drenthe is made for that: the pace is low, the distances are small, and the landscape asks nothing of you except that you are there. Around Odoorn a few days give you exactly enough.
Outdoors by day
The day begins outside almost by itself. A walk through the Odoorn forest, a ride over the Hondsrug past a few dolmens, or simply a loop through the heath. The land is flat, so even those who train little get far — and stop wherever it is beautiful.
A quiet evening
Towards evening the calm returns. It is the hour when the sky above the flat land takes on colour and the paths fall silent. Back at your base you sit down for a bite and a drink, with no agenda for the next day.
