Sometimes the finest trip is the one you don't plan far ahead. You look outside, the weather looks good, and within a day you're already in the Vechtdal. This region is perfect for that: close by, calm and straight into nature.
Why the Vechtdal works for a last-minute trip
The Vechtdal is central and easy to reach, so you needn't travel half a day to be away. And once here, there is little to arrange: the walking and cycling routes start almost at the door, and the Vecht does the rest.
What you can do on the spur of the moment
Head into nature with no plan. Walk a loop through the Sahara drift sand, cycle a circuit along the river or wander through the centre of the Hanseatic town of Ommen. Nothing is required, everything is allowed.
Is the weather changeable? There is always the spa, a long lunch or a terrace looking out over the water. A last-minute weekend here rarely falls flat, in any sense.
How to arrange it
Check the current availability and leave whenever it suits you. Precisely because there is so little to prepare, a spontaneous weekend in the Vechtdal feels like real free time.
The best moment to get away is often simply: now.
