Odoorn near EmmenDrenthe

Cycling
You set off from Odoorn, set centrally between the Hondsrug and the Hunze valley. Almost at once you join the cycling junction network, which guides you along quiet cycle paths through the finest part of the region.
The route follows the high sand ridge of the Hondsrug, with fields, woods and open heath on either side. You ride past several dolmens — Drenthe has more than fifty — that sometimes appear unexpectedly among the trees. The riding is light; the land is flat and the lanes are narrow and quiet.
In Borger you pass dolmen D27, the largest in the Netherlands, with the Hunebedcentrum beside it. A little further on the route drops into the Hunze valley, a broad stream valley where the landscape grows wetter and greener and where roe deer and meadow birds feel at home.
Via the junction network you cycle back to Odoorn in a wide loop, with the evening sun low over the fields. The final stretch climbs the Hondsrug again, towards the village.
De Oringer Marke has its own bike shed with charging points for e-bikes, so you set off without a care. Below you will find the package that fits this ride perfectly.
